Step 1: Open an Account

If you don't already have an IRA with us, complete our online application.

Step 2: Request a Distribution

After you open an account, it's time to contact the financial institution currently holding your retirement plan assets to request a direct rollover distribution.

  • Complete any paperwork required by the financial institution. If they require a letter of acceptance from us, ask if we can fax one to them.
  • Request the check be issued as follows:
    Payee: American Century Investments FBO (Your Last Name)
    Memo Field: Your American Century Investments' IRA account number
    Mailing Address: PO Box 419292, Kansas City, MO 64141-6292

Step 3: Confirm Deposit

We'll send a confirmation statement when the check has been deposited to your account. If you haven't received confirmation within four weeks, call a Rollover Specialist. We'd be happy to help determine the status of the rollover.
